2 cups unsweetened rice or almond or coconut milk
1 banana, peeled
2 tablespoons unsweetened dark cocoa powder
2 tablespoons flaxseed
1 tablespoon pure maple syrup or 1 packet stevia (optional)
¼ cup crushed ice
In a blender, combine the milk, banana, cocoa, flaxseed, maple syrup and stevia (if using), and the ice. Process until smooth and serve.
If you suffer from GERD, eliminate the cocoa powder and add 1 teaspoon alcohol-free vanilla extract for a banana smoothie instead.
If you experience IBS/IBD symptoms, remove the flaxseed to reduce the fiber content of this smoothie.
